What is the name of the substances that are mixed together during a chemical reaction?
Reactants
What is a phase change?
When matter changes into a different phase of matter. (Liquid, solid, gas)
What is the name of small pieces of rock?
Sediment
True of false- Does the size of the population depend on the amount of the resources?
True
This(these) teacher(s) is(are) from New York
Ms. Duran/Ms. Ragona
Is a nail rusting a chemical or physical change?
Chemical change
Explain what causes evaporation?
Energy being transferred into the liquid
Explain how a sedimentary rock forms
Compaction and cementation
How does population growth affect energy resources?
Growing population consume more energy
Which teacher has only taught at Prep Middle?
Ms. Logan
What are the differences between a chemical change and physical change?
Chemical changes are irreversible, a new product is created, and two or more substances are combined.
Identify what phase change it is when a liquid turns into a gas.
Evaporation
Identify the energy source needed to form Igenous rock
Energy from Earth's Interior
What do organisms use energy for?
Reproduction, growth, and maintain their structures.
These two teachers used to teach history.
Mr. Sauder, Mr. Gamza
What happens to the atoms of a substance when it burns?
All of the atoms rearrange to form a different substance or different substances.
It would melt. When energy gets transferred into a solid it turns into a liquid.
List the 3 types of rock
Metamorphic, Igenous, Sedimentary
What species is at the top of the food chain?
Humans
Which three 7th grade teachers started here on the same day?
Mrs. Thomas, Ms. Ragona, Ms. Logan
Why is mass conserved (stays the same) in a chemical reaction?
No new atoms enter the substance or leave the substance so the mass is conserved (stays the same
Which phase of matter has the weakest attraction?
Gas
Explain how an igneous rock can turn into a sedimentary rock.
When an igneous rock is pushed to the earths surface (Uplift) it is exposed to energy from the sun. That energy then breaks it into sediment. The sediment then gets pushed together and sticks together over 100s of years forming sedimentary rocks.
Explain what would happen to an ecosystem if the producers populations decreased?
The rest of the populations decreases because there is a lack of energy in the ecosystem.
Which 7th grade teachers are married?
Mr. Sauder, Mrs. Thomas, Mr. Gamza
