•Not leave the deceased person unattended
•Be guided by whanau on the cultural and spiritual practices they wish to follow
•Avoid removal or cutting anything off the body unless absolutely necessary, and only in consultation with whanau.
•Give whanau the opportunity to perform a karakia or waiata before the body is removed from the room
•Not take food or drink into, or clean into the room until karakia has been performed.
