-The Hurricanes reached the playoffs for the seventh year in a row, every year since Rod Brind'Amour has been coach. ---The Canes had a successful first two rounds beating both the New Jersey Devils and Washington Capitals.
-They reached the Eastern Conference Final where they faced the Florida Panthers for a second year in a row. The Canes were down 0-3 games in the series, but they won game 4 in Florida. This marked the first win in the Eastern Conference Final since 2006. Ultimately the Canes fell short in game 5 against the Panthers and were knocked out of the Playoffs.
