Have you ever heard the saying, "You eat like a pig"? We sometimes tell people this when they eat a large amount of food. So what exactly does a pig eat? Let's find out!

Pigs are omnivores. This means that they will all sorts of food like fruits, vegetables, and even bugs. So pigs really aren't that picky, they just like to eat. Humans are also omnivores since we eat plants and animals.

In the wild, pigs will eat anything that is convenient. They mostly eat plant matter and insects. They are known for preferring acorns and palmetto. Sometimes they will eat small mammals or the eggs of birds or reptiles.

Humans enjoy eating bacon, pork chops, and ham. All these come from pigs on farms. Farmers take extra special care of a pig's diet to ensure they grow to be big and healthy. Farmers feed pigs mostly corn or soybean meal. Sometimes farmers will add dried whey to provide the pig protein and sugar. The protein helps the pig grow muscles and the sugar gives the pig energy.
