Amount: The same amount is deducted each pay period
Percent: The amount withheld is based on a percentage of the gross earnings on the paycheck
What is the difference between a Cash and Non-Cash Earning?
Cash: The funds paid under the earning increase the net pay on the employee’s paycheck Ex: Tips Owed
Non Cash: The funds paid under the earning do not increase the net pay on the employee’s paycheck. Non cash earnings are used to record that payment was already distributed to an employee and to calculate the amount of tax owed on the payment
Can a customer edit payroll after it has been posted?
NO!
They can edit when calculated by click the 'Previous' button next to 'Post,' which will bring the HR+ User back to the Spreadsheet step to make any changes.
What does the 'Sync To Toast' button on an employee's Profile Overview page do?
Sends information to the POS from Payroll (pushing new specialities/rates into the POS)
How can you find a client's current SUTA rate?
In the quarterly tax package in the report. The SUTA rate will be on the last page of the Quarterly tax Package
You can also see it by going to Admin > Payroll Admin> SUTA rates. This will pull all SUTA rates for all clients in Toast Payroll's database.
What are deduction limits?
Limits: Some deductions have a limit on how much can be withheld from the employee. Limits can be federally mandated (ex: Federal limit for 401K $19.500 in 2020) or they can be imposed on an individual basis (ex: an employee owes $5,000 for a garnishment)
What is Tip Makeup?
Tip Makeup is an earning that occurs on payroll when a tipped employee's effective hourly rate is below minimum wage.
How can a customer reset their payroll?
Navigate to the Pay Cycle Dashboard, click 'Continue' and within the Preview set, select the Advanced actions drop down and click Reset Payroll
