What is a translation in Geometry?
A translation is a transformation that slides/glides/moves every point of a shape the same distance. Maintains shape, size, orientation.
What is a reflection?
A reflection is a mirrored image that is the same distance away from a line of reflection, which is in the middle of the two images.
What is the rule for a rotation 90° clockwise in the coordinate plane?
If original points are (x, y) they become (y, -x) to rotate 90° C.
Plot this point A (2,3) and then rotate it about the origin 270° CCW

Where is Ms. Zawacki going in February 2026?
A. Hawaii C. Arizona
B. Florida D. California
B. Florida
The new point (2, 3) translated by 5 units to the right and 2 units up?
The new point would be (7, 5).
If the point X (4, -3) is reflected over the y-axis, what are the coordinates of its image?
The coordinates of the image would be X' (-4, -3).
If the point N (1, 2) is rotated 180° around the origin, where is the new position?
The new position would be N'(-1, -2).
Plot the point Q (1, 4)
Now reflect this point across the line x = -1
Ms. Zawacki LOVES to watch Christmas Movies. Which one is her favorite?
A. Elf C. Christmas with the Kranks
B. Home Alone D. The Polar Express
A. Elf
If a shape is translated <-3, -4> units down, what is the new position of the original point A (1, 5)?
The new position would be A' (-2, 1).
If C (14, 20) is reflected across the x-axis, what are the coordinates of C'?
C' (14, -20)
If L is located at (-3, 4), what are the coordinates of a 270° clockwise rotation?
To rotate (-3, 4) 270° clockwise, the coordinates
become L' (-4, -3).
Point A(2,6) is translated <4,2> to get A'.
A' is then rotated about the origin 180° to get A".
A" is then reflected across the y-axis to get A'".
What translation is required to get back to A'?
<0, 16>
nothing/zero, Up 14
Ms. Zawacki went to High School with:
A. Mr. Vincent C. Mr. Sandberg
B. Mr. Mac D. Mrs. Carr
A. Mr. Vincent (although he is 1 year younger than me!)
Write the arrow notation for a translation that moves a point (x, y), down 12 units and right 14 units.
(x, y) → (x + 14, y - 12)
If R (6, 7) and is reflected across the line y = -x, what are the coordinates of R'?
R' (-7, -6)
If an original point A (-4,-1) is rotated around the point (12, 10) 270°C what are the coordinates of A FAKE and A'?
A (4,1) turns into the FAKE of:
AF (-16, -11) which then become:
A' (11, -16)
Rotate N (44, 55) 90° Clockwise around the point (10, 10). What are the coordinates of N'?
N' (45, -34)
Ms. Zawacki loves instruments. If she could be a GURU at an instrument, it would be this one:
A. Guitar C. Piano
B. Drums D. Harp
B. Drums
Find the coordinates of A' if A is at (111, 333) and is moved <-21, -79>.
A' (90, 254)
If D (16, 14) and is reflected across the line y = 10, what are the coordinates of D'?
D' (16, 6)
If H (5, 15) is rotated 180 around the point (-1, -1) what are the coordinates of H Fake and H'?
H (5, 15) becomes
HF (6, 16) which then becomes:
H' (-6, -16)
Reflect the point H (2,3) across the line y = -x.
Draw this point and the reflected point.
What are the coordinates of H'?
Hold up your picture
H'(-3,-2)
