A RN to go with you.

Your patient is on a feeding tube. The Nurse pauses the pump, so no fluid is running through the tubing. Can you take this patient? 

NO. The nurse MUST disconnect the tubing from the patient. leaving it connected even if it isn't running poses a risk for the patient to aspirate. Aspiration is when fluids are breathed into the lungs through the windpipe. It can also happen when something goes back into your throat from your stomach.  This results in cough, shortness of breath, wheezing and in severe case, and choking.

Why do we need to put TTR in folders and not leave in charts? 

It signifies that the trip is over, and we keep these tickets in case any situations arise.

YES! it lets the next transporter know what their vitals were at the beginning of the trip and an easy reference in case a condition is call and someone has to give an SBAR.
