This subsystem provides information concerning the control of the vehicle.
What is the guidance system?

This phase is when you investigate a problem's history or previous solutions in order to define the problem clearly for design purposes.

A way of getting people and cargo from one place to another.

This subsystem provides the force necessary to move the vehicle.
What is the propulsion subsystem?
Engine, transmission

The guidance system for this type of transportation might include lighthouses, buoys, and tell tales.
What is a boat?
These are limitations on a design. Examples are design time available, budget, and lead time on materials.
What are design constraints?
A system within a system.
What is a subsystem?
This subsystem accommodates a vehicle's cargo and forms the basic framework of the vehicle
What is the structural subsystem?
Wheels and shocks on a car, an airplane's wings, a boat's hull.
What is the suspension system?
The path of the vehicle cannot be changed. Trains, elevators, and monorails are all examples.

A group of interrelated parts that work together to accomplish a common goal.

This subsystem controls speed and direction of a vehicle's path.
What is the control system?
Body and chassis of a car, an airplane's fuselage, a bicycle's frame

Involving two or more different modes of transportation when conveying goods.
What is intermodal transportation?
These are a client's design requirements that must be met by the designer.
What are the design criteria?
Pipelines and conveyor belts.

What is the suspension system?
Driveway, roads, gas station, garage
What is a car's support system?
The driver can change the path they are on. Cars, motorcycles, trucks,etc. travel on these routes. Examples: roads and highways
