The difference is that there’s no atmosphere on the moon and so no air resistance. On Earth, the air resistance will slow the feather down more than it slows down the hammer. The earth's gravity pulls all objects down at the same rate, assuming there is no air resistance. They actually did this experiment with a hammer and a feather on the Moon in 1971 during the Apollo 15 mission.
