Naruto has its fair share of sad backtories, and one of them is none other than Iruka's. Iruka's parents were killed during a mission in the hidden mist, and he never got to see them again. Because of this, he took to teaching children in the ninja academy so that he can pass the will of fire to any kids that might be in his situation.

In Harry Potter, we are introduced to a myriad of creatures, one of which is named the Thestral, a black, skeletal, bat winged horse, that can only be seen by those that have been close to death themselves. We see this when Harry starts seeing them after surviving a near death conflict with death eaters in Order of the Phoenix.
Um Actually, Thestrals are only revealed to those that have witnessed death or had an emotional understanding of what death means.
While most societies that are close together create similar pantheons, like Greek and Egyptian having a hierarchy in gods and many different types of gods all presiding over different aspects of life. There are times when this does not happen at all. The neighboring tribes Maya and Aztecs have nothing similar when it comes to religion.
