What mindfulness materials are available?

On the unit we have a variety of items you can use for mindfulness activities! Stress balls, model magic, aroma therapy stickers, textured breathing exercise stickers, coloring materials, decks of cards, and fidget toys.

Where can I find the group therapy schedule?

In your admission folder, posted on the wall of the East side hallway, posted at both nurses stations.

Who can see me?

All visitors must be 18 and older! visitors are allowed one at a time between the hours of 6-7pm in the East day room!

Where do I get my meds after discharge?

Generally, two weeks worth of medications are sent to your outpatient pharmacy of your choosing. All subsequent medication orders are to be obtained from your outpatient provider; an appointment is made for you before discharge.

When are meal times?

Breakfast comes between 8-830AM

Lunch comes between 12-1230 PM

Dinner comes between 5-530 PM

When do I need to attend court?

Court hearings are held on premises every Tuesday. You may be asked if you would like to attend if you are hospitalized for approximately two weeks or longer. Attendance is not mandatory.

When are scheduled medications given out?

Between 8-10 AM and 8-10 PM!

What is a treatment team?

Treatment teams are held every 3-5 days. This includes meeting with a member from each department regarding your care! This includes social work, nursing, and adjunct therapy in addition to your psychiatrist!

How do I order food?

Menus for meal times are given one day in advance. For example, the menu you received today if for your selections tomorrow. You make circle up to two options in each category; or X2 under the same item.

When are visiting hours?

Every day from 6-7PM including weekends and holidays.

What can I bring?

Personal clothing is allowed, and encouraged! clean clothing free from rips and inappropriate language/images. Strings including laces/draw strings must be removed from clothing. Paperback books, alcohol-free toiletries, and photos are allowed.

To supplement smoking cigarettes/vape, you can ask for?

MMC offers nicotine patches or nicotine lozenges!

Can I shave?

yes! staff may supervise you using an electric razor with disposable clipper heads. You may also request to be supervised clipping fingernails with patient specific nail clippers.

When can I access my toiletries/shower?

Anytime between 7am- 10pm ; except during group therapy!

What is the discharge process?

Discharge is ultimately decided by your psychiatrist! average length of stay is 5-7 days; variables include behaviors while on the unit, group attendance, medication compliance, symptom management, etc!

Who is my nurse?

You may locate the name of your assigned nurse on the electronic board located on East nurses station; you may also ask staff to identify this information for you. Nurses wear navy blue, MHA's wear black.

When will I see the doctor?

A psychiatrist will speak to every patient, every day. There are no formal appointment times and people are generally seen in order of discharges, new admissions, etc.

Can I use my cellphone?

Use of electronics on the unit is not permitted. numbers from cellphones are able to be obtained on admission. After that, cell phones are stored with security until discharge.

Why do some medications require blood work?

some medications require routine blood work to ensure therapeutic levels have been reached!
