Forces are unequally applied to an object, in opposite directions. Generally the objects are moving to help you know there is an un balance of forces.

If you're in this lighter part of the shadow during an eclipse, you’ll only see a partial eclipse—it’s like the Sun or Moon is playing hide-and-seek but not committing!
