What is a healthy relationship?

A healthy relationship is a connection that you have with family, friends, acquaintances, people who you talk/see every day and people who you talk/see once in a while and share interests, trust, loyalty, and respecting each other.


Define grief

It is a normal reaction to a loss of a loved one, family member, friend, or pet. People can experience grief over other types of losses as well as a divorce, losing a relationship or a job, moving away from friends or family, or even becoming ill and losing good health. Everyone experiences grief at some point in life.


Define Stress

  • Stress is what you feel when you’re worried or uncomfortable about something. With this, it can make your body feel bad.

  • You may feel angry, frustrated, scared, or afraid -- which may give you a stomachache or a headache

  • When you’re stressed, you may not feel like sleeping or eating, or you might sleep or eat too much. You may also feel cranky or have trouble paying attention and remembering things at home.

Why is emotional health important?

Emotional health allows you to work productively and cope with the stresses of everyday life. It can help you realize your full potential. It helps you work with other people and contribute to society. It also affects your physical health.


How can talking to a trusted adult help you with troublesome feelings or feelings in general?

-Talking about your feelings can help them seem less overwhelming

-adults have more experience with dealing with feelings

-they will be more likely to know how to help

How can you maintain/improve physical health?

Physical health includes being physically active, eating in healthy ways, protecting the body from being injured, taking care of medical needs, and not doing things that could damage the body or change how it works.

identify the feelings, find someone to talk to, be physically active keep a journal, let yourself cry/take a break, try to keep a sense of humor

  • Criticizing yourself (negative self-talk)

  • Becoming aggressive or violent (hitting someone, throwing or kicking something)

Social Health includes being able to make friends, form relationships, communicate and give support to and get support from others.

accept who they are, build relationships, express feelings, manage stress/conflict, show care/concern, take responsibility, positives over the negatives, asking for help


What are 3 unhealthy ways to deal with grief?

Ignore your feelings, express anger about the loss in a violent way, use alcohol and other drugs, quit doing activities you enjoy, or keep your feelings bottled up


What are 2 physical and 2 emotional reactions to stress?

Physical Reactions

Headaches, dizziness or shaking. High blood pressure. Muscle tension or jaw clenching. Stomach or digestive problems

Emotional Reactions

Becoming easily agitated, frustrated, and moody. Feeling overwhelmed, as if you are losing control or need to take control. Having a hard time relaxing and quieting your mind

Spiritual health might include a person’s religious beliefs, personal values or culture. It can include looking outward to find a greater cause or purpose, or looking inward to better understand yourself in relation to your faith, values, or culture.

kindness, trust, clear communication, keeping confidences, listening, being honest, respecting each other, empathy, working out differences, can be themselves, and having fun together


What are 3 healthy ways to deal with grief?

take it one day at a time, get enough sleep, try to keep a normal routine, be physically active, eat a healthy diet, talk about your feelings, share your memories


What are 3 ways that someone could deal with stress in a positive, healthy way?

journal/draw, guided imagery, deep breathing, yoga, listen to music... etc.
