God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham brought Isaac up the mountain to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham told Isaac that God would prepare the sacrifice. Abraham was about to kill Isaac, but an angel stopped him and God provided a ram instead. 

Abraham thought Isaac would be raised from the dead if he was sacrificed because he had faith in God's promise that Isaac was the one to bring many nations through.
