What is climax?
The perspective from which the narrator is telling the story.
Point of View
People, animals, or imaginary creatures in a story.
What are characters?
When and where a story takes place.
What is setting?
The point in the story where tension is building, the conflict is introduced.
What is rising action?
A point of view where the narrator is a character inside the story (I, me, my).
What is first person POV?
When the author directly states something about a character (Sally is mean).
What is direct characterization?
The problem a character has to face in the story.
What is conflict?
The beginning of the story, characters and setting are introduced.
What is exposition?
A point of view where the narrator is outside the story, but only knows the thoughts and feelings of one character.
What is Third Person Limited POV?
When the reader has to infer something about a character based on the text (Sally hits everyone all the time).
What is indirect characterization?
The lesson the reader is supposed to learn from a story.
What is theme?
The point in the story where the tension is falling, the conflict is resolved.
What is falling action?
A point of view where the narrator is outside the story, and knows the thoughts and feelings of all characters.
What is Third Person Omniscient POV?
Direct or indirect characterization: "Marcus was an exceptionally patient boy who never lost his temper, even when his little sister spilled juice on his favorite drawing."

A type of conflict where the character is facing an issue outside of themselves.
What is external conflict?
The end of the story, a lesson has been learned.
What is resolution?
An individual's viewpoint, side, or stance on something.
What is perspective?
Indirect or direct characterization?
"As Mr. Henderson walked past the collection box, he looked around, quickly slipped a $100 bill inside, and walked away without waiting for a thank you."
