This identifies the orientation of the map. (North, South, East, West)
Compass Rose
This map type consists of dots of the same size that represent density.
Dot Density Map
This was the first type of map projection created. It distorts objects found close to the north/south pole in order to accurately show things near the equator.
Mercator Projection
This is the scale of a city/town/county or other small representation.

This is the process by which things around the world become more and more connected.

This map type cuts out the oceans in order to preserve land mass. This is used for data viewing in Human Geography.
