If I am at a bowling alley and I roll a bowling ball and a marble down the lane at the same speed, which one would be able to knock down more pins? Why?

The  bowling ball will knock down more pins because it is larger than the marble so it will hit the pins with more force than the marble will.

500

Which of the following causes a ball thrown up in the air to fall back to the ground?

A. the moon’s gravity

B. the sun’s gravity

C. the ball’s gravity

D. Earth’s gravity

D. Earth’s gravity

500

Which has more atoms, a grapefruit or a marble? Why?

A grapefruit has more atoms because it has more mass and it is larger than a marble. We know that the more mass an object has, the more atoms it also has.

Explain why the lower ramp did not move the cup as far as the higher ramp when marble collided with the cup in the lab last week.

The lower ramp had a lower speed, so it had less energy. The less energy something has the less force is can apply. Higher energy and speed, like we saw with the tall cup, means that the marble can hit the cup with more force.
