AD
AD, meaning Anno Domini (in the year of our lord), is used to indicate the years following the birth of Jesus Christ.
Julian Calendar
The Julian calendar is a calendar introduced by Julius Caesar in 45 BCE. It has 365 days in a year, with an extra day added every four years (leap year)
Equator
An imaginary line that goes around the middle of the Earth, dividing the Northern and the Southern Hemisphere.
Location
Where a place is located.
Absolute Location
Coordinates defined by lines of latitude and longitude.
BC
BC, meaning before Christ, is used to indicate the years prior to the birth of Jesus Christ.
Gregorian Calendar
The Gregorian calendar is the calendar we use today. Most years have 365 days, but every 4 years we add an extra day (leap year). The only exception is that years ending in 00 are not leap years, unless they can be divided evenly by 400.
Prime Meridian
An imaginary line that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole and divides the Earth into the Eastern and Western Hemisphere.
