Who was with Jesus as he wandered the wilderness?

HINT: Friend or Foe?

FOE! Satan! El Diablo con El adversario!

100

What is a Disciple?

A Disciple is anyone who follows a teacher or a leader. Not all Disciples are Christians, but all Christians are Disciples of Jesus.

100

What was Jesus' first sign (Miracle), and where did it happen?

Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding in Galilee. This signified to his followers of his God given authority.

100

Who was Nicodimus?

He was a Pharisee who believed Jesus was the Messiah, but was still worried about what his fellows would think about him if he was seen with Jesus in Public.

100

When Jesus taught in Nazareth, why did they reject him, despite being in his hometown?

Hint: Luke 4:20 -23 (these verses explain the answer, just reading these verses out loud ISN'T the answer.)

When Jesus taught at the temple, he read from the scroll of the prophet Isaiah, stating that He is who is mentioned, that he is the Messiah. All the Nazareeans knew was that he was the Son of Joseph, not the Son of God. Because of their closed-minded reasoning, they rejected him.

200

What was Jesus doing in the Wilderness, and how long was he doing it?

He was fasting and abstained from Food for 40 days and 40 nights

200

Was it Bad that John the Baptist's Followers stopped following him and wanted to follow Jesus?

No, not at all. John was the Forerunner to Jesus's Ministry; his job was to help lay the foundation for the people to better understand Jesus and His Ministry.

200

After the First Miracle, what was the next sign did Jesus performed?

Hint: The Temple

Jesus went to the temple and turned over the money changing stalls and whipped the merchants away in Righteous fury! He proclaimed that his Father's house was not a den of thieves! declaring his lineage tie to God.

200

What did Jesus tell Nicodemus was the only way to enter the Kingdom of God?

To be born again!

200

When Jesus went to heal the sick, a paralyzed man, what did he say before he healed him?

He told him that his sins are forgiven, hinting a connection to his sin causing his ailment (probably)

300

What methods did Satan try to use on Jesus to get him to get him to give into temptation?

He tried tricking him to turn a rock into bread, have angels catch him from falling, and ultimately bow before him, offering him the world and all its treasures and kingdoms.

300

Who were the first Disciples that Jesus met on his Journey to Galilee?

Hint: Matthew 4:18

It was Simon Peter, his brother Andrew, John, and James (the sons of Thunder!)

300

Who did Jesus anger with his "actions" at the Temple?

The Pharisees and the Sadducees, the religious leaders of the day. They were upset that Jesus had revealed and put a stop to their iniquity, but that he also proclaimed to be the Son of God.

300

Why was Nicodimus confused with Jesus's answer?

Because he took it too literally, thinking he had to be born from his mother's belly again! Jesus did explain to him, however, that it was a spiritual birth, an acknowledgment of his sins and status as a sinner, needing Christ for his redemption and new birth.

300

Why did this anger the Pharisees?

Hint: If you need further clarification: Mark 2:6,7

Because Jesus claimed to be doing something that only God could do, Forgive Sin. It further annoyed them that Jesus further proved his authority by healing the paralized man by telling him to pick up his bed and go.

400

At every temptation, what tool did Jesus use to overcome each temptation?

Jesus used the word of God, and he used it genuinely to refuse what he knew was wrong and not use it as a reason to abuse his authority. He trusted in God.

400

What was so Amazing about the Men leaving their Boats and Nets to follow after Jesus, once they recognized him as the Messiah?

It was amazing because it was a sign that they were going to leave their homes and livelihoods to follow after Jesus. Our own walk with Jesus should be a reflection of that kind of Dedication towards Christ!

400

When the Pharisees asked for Jesus to prove His authority, what did Jesus say to the Pharisees that really made them scratch their heads?

Hint:

Jesus said, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."

They thought he was being literal, not realizing he was prophesying the future events to come, His death and Resurrection.

400

When Jesus traveled to Samaria, who did he meet at the well, and what was her problem?

It was a Samaritan woman, and she was troubled by her sinful lifestyle of having many husbands.

400

When Jesus was accused of breaking the Sabbath Law by healing the sick, what does this reveal about the Pharisees' hearts?

Hint: what are they Lacking?

It reveals their lack of Love and Compassion in them. They are so obsessed with following the Law, they do not think of the purpose or origins of the law.

500

What does 2 Timothy 2:22 say we as Christians should do when we face temptation?

Hint: If you have your Bible, you should use it!

The Bible says," Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

When we face temptation, we should flee! Find a way to escape the situation and to do what we know is right, as is set up by God and those who are trusted in authority.

500

Who was the Fifth Disciple that followed Jesus, and what was his Job?

Hint: He was despised for this occupation by his fellow Jews, they called him a traitor for it?

It was Matthew, the Tax Collector. Even though his countrymen hated him, Jesus shows compassion and mercy for him and even asks him to invite his tax collector buddies to come see him and listen to his ministry.

500

Was it right for Jesus to have acted that way at the Temple? Explain your Reasoning

Yes, it was! The Pharisees were breaking the Jewish Law by allowing corruption to brew in their Temples, a place of worship to God, which had become a Place of Greed and took advantage of the people's desire to worship God. As Christians, we shouldn't be afraid to speak out for Injustices against God!

500

When Jesus asked her for water and revealed to her that he knew of her sinful secret lifestyle, what did Jesus offer her so that she could start to atone for her sins?

Jesus offered her the Living Water. She told her that a time was coming where it didn't matter where you worshiped God, but it mattered that you worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

500

What does the Bible really say about keeping the Sabbath?

That on the Sabbath that we are to keep it Holy, it is a day that we dedicate it to God (and we do that by going to Church), and also by resting, NOT by abstaining from all work, because, as the Pharisees policed it, it was literally impossible to do anything that wasn't considered work. (they were tripping off their power)
