It's a comparison between non-human items and a human where the non-human item is given human characteristics.

These characters, while not the main focus of the story, provide meaningful development to the plot, themes, and other characters
What are supporting characters?
Subtle or overt hints throughout the story that often create suspense or anticipation for the reader and allude to what will happen in the story.
What is foreshadowing?
A device that acts as an extended metaphor in which characters, events or settings act to represent or symbolize bigger real-world ideas or concepts. (ie. has a hidden meaning)

It's the conversations that occur between characters in a story.
What is dialogue?
This type of conflict is between a character and a prediction of their destiny or a predetermined path their life will take.

These are the characters that want to maintain the conflict or current situation, often seen as the "bad guys"
