1 Deep in Pinecone Forest, many animals work together to survive. Each animal has special traits that help it live in its environment. 

2 The beaver has strong, flat teeth that help it chew wood. Its teeth never stop growing, so the beaver is always busy cutting down branches to build dams and lodges. These homes protect the beaver from predators. 

3 The red fox has soft paws and sharp claws. Its paws allow it to walk silently through the forest while hunting. Its sharp claws help it quickly catch mice and rabbits. 

4 The frog has long webbed feet, perfect for swimming and jumping. When danger appears, it leaps into a pond and swims away fast. 

5 The owl has strong talons, which help it grab prey from the forest floor. It also has silent wings that let it swoop down without being heard.
