Body neutrality is about making the relationship to one's body less emotional - a body is a thing we have, and it does things for us which we can appreciate, and we shouldn't need to feel good or bad about it.

Obesity is now understood to be a chronic disease and at least partly genetic. This means what people eat (and how they exercise) aren't the only things that influence what their bodies look like. Also, as we learned in our fatphobia lesson, being fat isn't - by itself - unhealthy! How we eat and exercise matters more than how we look!
