Tissue Types
This tissue covers all the body surfaces inside and out and is attached to the layers below at the basement membrane.
What is epithelial tissue?
This is the largest organ in your body!
What is skin?
This is the topmost layer of your skin closest to the surface.
What is the epidermis?
This type of connective tissue is extremely rigid and provides support for the body. It also is where new blood cells are made!
What is bone tissue?
These are hard, keratin plates that cover the surface of the last bone on each toe and finger.
What are nails?
This is the bottommost layer of your skin.
What is the hypodermis?
This tissue is found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
What is nervous tissue?
This gland produces oil to keep your skin and hair nice and soft and lubricated. It also protects you from infection!
What are sebaceous glands?
This layer contains blood vessels, nerves, sweat glands, and so much more!
What is the dermis?
This is a type of connective tissue that stores energy in the form of fat.
What is adipose tissue?
These glands are found all over your body and secrete sweat through pores in your skin.
What are eccrine glands?
This layer contains loads of fat and fibrous connective tissue.
What is the hypodermis?
These are the 4 main types of tissues.
What are epithelial, connective, nervous, and muscle?
This gland produces cerumen, aka ear wax!
What is the ceruminous gland?
This is the bottom layer of the epidermis where new skin cells are made.
