When Britain declared war on Germany on September 3rd, 1939, Canada was not automatically at war against too as opposed to 1914. However, there was much pressure from Britain for Canadian support so Canada ended up joining the war as an independent nation.

In trying to bring down the British and cause them to give up, the Luftwaffe over and over bombarded cities.  But in even with the damage and deaths, the British could survive thanks to the efforts of the Royal Air Force (RAF), and the effective defence of important targets ended Germany from getting what it wanted.
