What did the Indian Removal Act do?
Passed by Jackson in 1830, it allowed the US to negotiate treaties with tribes to move them west of the Mississippi. Many tribes resisted this which resulted in events such as the Sauk tribe's Black Hawk War and the Cherokee Trail of Tears.
