Opposing views the writer discusses and disproves.

Temptation. Evil
What is the apple?
A statement that attacks or criticizes a person's character

An ethical appeal that is based on the speaker's authority or expertise
What is ethos?
Language that says the opposite of what is actually meant

The position a writer presents and defends.

Represents youth, goodness, and weakness.

A statement that creates alarm by assuming that an unlikely worst-case scenario is inevitable.

A parallel arrangement of strongly contrasting words, clauses, sentences, or ideas that are placed side by side.

I agree that exercise is a large contributor to weight loss, but it isn't everything. A balanced diet makes up for the majority of weight loss.

Represents the cycle of life.

Information that supports the claim and shows that it is right or true.

Demonstrates compassion, loyalty, and empathy. Often aids the innocent.
