"They lived, worked, and worshiped close together." There was a meetinghouse which was the church and the town hall, and a commons (a field) in the center of town that everyone shared.

The Duke of York sent warships and threatened to attack the Dutch, and the Dutch surrendered. Because they wanted to control the whole Atlantic coast to control land.

They were huge farms with man buildings that produced cash crops and used mainly enslaved workers to run them. They drove the economy of the South.

Very religious, very strict and conservative,  and family-oriented. School and Church were the most important things.

They thought people could have a direct relationship with God (not through a priest). Ministers would travel and give emotional speeches to crowds.

It was very diverse--there were many different people from all over the world with many different beliefs. People were very SOCIAL, did many different activities, and were very busy.

A large number of people were enslaved, so life was very difficult for them. Many other people lived on plantations or small farms that were far away from each other, so Church became the main social event.

What were two changes that were a RESULT of the "Great Awakening"?

People were more accepting of religious differences. More people were able to practice religion. There was a greater diversity of religious beliefs.

He was a Native American leader. What was he famous for?

Tamanend. He met with William Penn and other leaders and established peace between the colonists and the Natives.
