What is an innovation?
Mapping technology that allows you to layer data tied to geographic locations using addresses or longitude and latitude coordinates.
What is GIS mapping technology?
A collection of individuals, each with his or her own expertise, brought together to benefit a common goal.
What is a team?
A surgical procedure to insert a stent into a patient. A stent is a hollow structure designed to keep open a passageway, such as a vessel or ureter.
What is a stent?
Scientists who work in many different fields, from physics to engineering to pharmaceuticals.
Who are R&D Scientists?
A systematic, problem-solving process, with criteria and constraints; used by scientists and engineers to develop many possible solutions to solve a problem.
What is the design process?
Relating to, occupying, or having the character of space. Spatial describes how objects fit together in space or on Earth.
What is spatial?
When each team member recognizes that their individual success depends on the success of their teammates.
What is positive interdependence?
Anything that stimulates an immune response.
What is an antigen?
This career applies principles of engineering to the fields of medicine and biology and will often include training in biomaterials, biomechanics, pharmaceutical engineering, and human body systems.
What is a biomedical engineer?
The narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, usually caused by atherosclerosis.
What is coronary artery disease?
Substances that have a biological effect, such as anticancer, antifungal, and antibacterial compounds.
What are bioactive compounds?
Restrictions that limit process design. Appearance, funding, space, materials, and human capabilities are constraints.
What are constraints?
A scientific field that combines tissue engineering and molecular biology to replace or “regenerate” human cells, tissues, or organs to restore or establish normal function.
What is regenerative medicine?
Scientists who design and develop software applications. They performs coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.
Who are 3D Software Engineer?
A process where surface antigens, the HLA, of the tissues of a prospective donor and recipient are tested to determine compatibility for transplantation.
What is tissue typing?
The variety of life on Earth.
What is biodiveristy?
Standards used to make judgments or decisions.
What is criteria?
The ability of a treatment, drug, or therapy to cure or reduce the effects of disease.
What are theraputics?
A person trained, equipped, and deployed by a human spaceflight program to serve as a commander or crew member aboard a spacecraft
What is an astronaut?
The deposition of fats and/or cholesterol on artery walls, which negatively impacts blood flow.
What is atherosclerosis?
A lipid that is an essential component of animal cell membranes and acts as a precursor molecule for the synthesis of other biologically important steroids.
What is cholesterol?
Able to be measured.
A measurable design criterion provides a precise indicator of a quantifiable characteristic so that a design can be compared to the criterion and deemed acceptable or unacceptable.
What is measurable?
The transplantation of cells, tissues, or organs from a different species into a human for the purpose of improving health or extending life of the human.
What is a xentotransplantation?
A person who invented a particular process or device or who invents things as an occupation.
