What is Minutemen?
People that were loyal to the British. Georgia was the only one of the colonies that oppose Britain. Georgia had not participated in the First Continental Congress and did not initially send delegates to the Second.
What is a loyalist?
Soldiers who only fight for money.
Who are mercenaries?
Francis Marion
Who came up with guerilla warfare?
A meeting by the colonies in response to the intolerable acts that the British had enforced. The result was a declaration by the colonies that stated the rights of the colonists and stopped the trade with the British.
What is the First Continental Congress?
A British soldier in the American Revolution.
What is a redcoat?
Colonists who fought for independence.
Who are the Patriots?
After losing many battles, they decided to plan a strategy for revenge. The plan backfired and forced Britain to retreat.
What is the Battle of Saratoga?
Marion made a tactic where they attack by a hit and run, which would make it almost impossible to catch the patriots.
What is guerilla warfare?
Commander of the Continental Army. Known as the “Father of His Country.” Later was the 1st president of the United States.
Who is George Washington?
They created the continental army and George Washington was the leader of the army. Congress sent representatives to France and other locations to collect allies.
What is the Second Continental Congress?
He drafted the declaration of independence.
Who is Thomas Jefferson?
French man. He joined the continental army without pay. He barely had any English but he still managed to command. He helped the Americans win the war.
Who is Marquis de Lafayette?
The last battle of the American Revolution. Cornwallis' surrender at Yorktown ended the Revolutionary War. Lacking the financial resources to raise a new army, the British government appealed to the Americans for peace.
What is the Battle of Yorktown?
Fought for a cause they believed in, got help from European nations.
What were the advantages of the Patriots in the American Revolution?
The colonists wanted to capture Boston, which made them want to attack. The colonists were supposed to be on Breed’s Hill, but they were on Bunker Hill. the war was going well for the Patriots, but then they ran out of ammunition.
What is the Battle of Bunker Hill?
It allowed America to break away completely from Britain. Women, African Americans, and Native Americans weren't represented in the declaration of independence.
What is the Declaration of Independence?
The Continental Army was driven out of New York entirely after several more fights and defeat. They were forced to retreat from New Jersey to Pennsylvania.
What were the defeats in New York?
This treaty allowed the British to recognize the independence of America in the American Revolution.
What is the Treaty of Paris?
Well-trained/equipped soldiers, large/powerful navy.
What were the Advantages of the British in the American Revolution?
After the Second Continental Congress, they decided to form the Continental Army. George Washington was the commander of the army.
What is the Continental Army?
Thomas Paine was the author of the pamphlet called “common sense'' which was published anonymously at first.
Who/What is Thomas Paine and Common Sense?
Some people wanted to take Canada as the 14th colony. They didn't have cannons to bring down Quebec's walls, so they decided to wait for a winter storm to hit. Which at last failed. Montgomery died.
What were the defeats in Canada?
All French territory on the mainland of North America was lost. The British received Quebec and the Ohio Valley

A shot where it's uncertain which side it was from in the Battle of Lexington
