Nervous system
100

This body system breaks down food so your body can get nutrients and energy.

What is the digestive system

100

This term describes how plants grow toward or away from a stimulus such as light, gravity, or water.

What is tropism

100

Humans interpret stimuli from the environment using these

What is our Senses

200

This body system helps move oxygen into the blood and removes carbon dioxide from the body.

What is the Respiratory system

200

What stimulus is a plant reacting to for thigmotropism

What is touch

200

A change in an organisms surroundings that causes them to react

What is a Stimulus

300

This system controls the body’s movements, senses, and reactions to stimuli.

What is the nervous system

300

A student observes that a plant’s roots grow downward into the soil, even when the plant is placed on its side. This is a form of what tropism

What is gravitropism

300

This part of the nervous system carries messages from the senses to the brain.

What is Sensory Neuron

How do the digestive system and the nervous system work together.

The nervous system controls digestion by sending signals from the brain and spinal cord to the digestive organs. When you see or smell food, the brain tells your mouth to make saliva and your stomach to get ready to digest. As food moves through the digestive system, nerves help control muscle movements that push food along.

Rearrange the steps to put them in order to describe what happens in the cat's brain and nervous system when a cat sees a mouse. (With the first step being on top)

A. Cat's brain makes a decision to chase the mouse.

B. Cat's brain sends a message to the nerves in the legs to run towards the mouse.

C. Image of mouse enters the cat's eyes.

D. Nerves send a message to the cat's brain.

How do the respiratory system and the nervous system work together to help you funciton

The nervous system controls breathing by sending signals from the brain to the lungs and breathing muscles. The brain tells the diaphragm and chest muscles when to contract and relax so we can breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Most of the time, this happens automatically without us thinking about it.

This tropism helps a plant’s stem grow toward light for photosynthesis while causing roots to grow away from light to stay in the soil.

What is phototropism

Put the steps in order to describe what happens  when a puppy bites you.

A. Your brain sends a message back to the muscles in your arm and hand.

B. Your brain interprets the message.

C. While holding your new puppy, he bites your hand.

D. You pull your hand away from the puppy.

E. The receptors in your skin send a message to your spinal cord and brain.
