An inference is an educated guess/ new idea that isn't stated in the text based on what you read (key details) and what you know (prior knowledge)

The study of the form of words/ breaking down and combining of words that have smaller meanings

A question that can be answered using details directly from the text

What is the thinking process of an inference?

What are context clues?
Hints within a sentence, paragraph, or passage that a reader can use to determine the meaning of an unknown word.
What is an implicit question?
A question that cannot be answered directly based on the details in a text. It requires an inference or guessing.

The term American Dream is often traced back to James Truslow Adams, a historian and author. In 1931, as Americans suffered through the Great Depression, Adams wrote a book called The Epic of America in which he spoke of “a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement … regardless of fortuitous circumstances of birth or position.”
