Because of the new technology that aided maritime travel, European imperialism was able to spread quickly, and colonies were established all around the globe, especially in the Americas. The profit of these innovations was able to help the European nations build up their armies immensely, which in turn also helped them conquer other parts of the world much more easily.

The Age of Exploration led to the discovery of new, foreign, and rich lands. There was an increase in population and life expectancy for the Europeans due to the foreign foods that were being exported to Europe. However, for the Native Americans, the Age of Exploration led to the colonization of their homelands and introduced them to new religions and diseases that decimated the population, which made the colonization of the New World much easier for the imperialist nations.

The ideas and challenge to authority (political or religious) brought by the Enlightenment thinkers lead to immense and important social and political revolutions, such as the French Revolution, the American Revolution, and the Protestant Reformation. All of these changes were caused by the idea that reason and logic should be able to challenge an authority, and intellect and wisdom are better than simple blind faith.

The New World would have possibly never been discovered; the look for a faster route to reach Asia would have taken a considerably longer time. The Columbian Exchange would have never taken place, and the European imperialist nations would have never been able to develop their country and their military as much as they did during the Age of Exploration.
