Coordinate Plane
A vertical and a horizontal number line that intersect.
X-Axis
The horizontal Axis on the coordinate plane.
Y-Axis
The vertical axis on the coordinate plane.
Quadrants
The four regions of the coordinate plane.
Origin
The point of intersection between the X-Axis and the Y-Axis. Also known as (0,0)
Ordered Pair
The set of numbers, or coordinates written in the form (x,y)
X-Coordinate
The X-value of an ordered pair. (Represents the horizontal placement of the point)
Y- Coordinate
The Y-value of an ordered pair. (The vertical placement of the point)
Relation
A set of ordered pairs. {(2,3),(4,-3),(5,6)}
Domain
The set of X-Values in a relation
Range
The set of Y-Values in a relation
Function
A relation where the each element of the domain only has one single unique range. (X's Don't repeat).
Independent Variable
The X value in a function.
Dependent Variable
The Y-Value in a function.
Vertical Line Test
If any vertical line passes through a point of a line only once is a function. If any vertical line passes through more than one point is not a function.
Rate of Change
A ratio that shows how one variable changes with respect to another.
Slope
The change of Y over the Change of X.  Also known as M = RISE/RUN.
Positive Slope
A line that is increasing from left to right
Negative Slope
A line that is decreasing from left to right
Zero Slope
A horizontal line
Undefined Slope
A vertical line
Slope Formula
A formula used to find the slope between two points.
