Why does the Catholic Church not allow all Christians to receive the Eucharist?
Some Christian congregations fall outside the Apostolic Succession. Even though they share many beliefs and practices with the Catholic Church, they are not fully united in communion with the Church. The Eucharist is a sign of the oneness of the Church’s faith, liturgy, and leadership. Thus it would be dishonest to celebrate the Eucharist as a sign of unity with members of other Christian denominations who are not in full communion with the Church.
