Dramatic irony is the difference between what a character believes or understands and
what the audience knows to be true.
WHAT IS A
" LITERAL MEANING" OF SOMETHING.
EXAMPLE: " I SAW A BLACK CAT TODAY."
LITERALLY SAW A BLACK CAT.
WHAT TYPE OF IRONY IS THIS?
After a long day of summer yardwork, Josef suggests taking a swim in the lake to cool
off. “Nah,” his brother says. “Don’t you know that I enjoy being stinky and sweaty?”

A team finishes up an elaborate sand sculpture in time for the judges to view it, but then
a huge wave hits the beach and wrecks the statue. “Yeah, no one could have seen that
coming,” quips one of the builders.
