What is the Preamble?
It communicates the intentions of the framers and the purpose of the document. The preamble is an introduction to the highest law of the land.
Protect the rights of individual states. (Just like your parents protect you!)
Why do we have the constitution?
To keep us safe and protect us.
To make sure everyone is treated equally and fairly.
To keep the people in charge of the country from having too much power.
Who wrote the Constitution?
James Madison (wrote the document that formed the model for the Constitution)
Make and pass federal laws. (Just like your parents make the house rules!)
