Project Manager
A collection of projects or programs grouped together to meet strategic business objectives.
Portfolio Management
Provides the necessary information from a business standpoint to determine whether or not the project is worth the required investment.
Business Case
Defines each deliverable and further breaks down deliverable into smaller tasks.
WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)
The uncontrolled expansion to product or project scope without adjustments to time, cost, and resources.
Scope Creep
The person who commissions others to deliver the project and champions the cause throughout the project.
Project Sponsor
A group of related projects managed in a coordinate way to obtain benefits and control.
Program Management
A mutually binding agreement that obligates a seller to provide a specified product or service.
Contract
Contains the actual detailed description of the work required.
WBS Dictionary
A unique and verifiable product, result, or capability to perform a service that must produce a completed project.
Deliverable
The staff who actively work on the project.
Project Team Members
An organizational function performing the ongoing execution of activities that produce the same product or service.
Operations Management
This is used to assess the inputs used to develop the project charter.
Expert Judgement
Includes the product scope description, the project deliverable, and it also defines the product user acceptance criteria.
Project Scope Statement
Intentionally adding extra features or functions to the products which were not included in the scope statement.
Gold Plating

Knowledge
An enterprise environmental factor which can affect the availability of resources and influence how projects are conducted.
Organizational Structure
A document issued by the project initiator or sponsor that formally authorizes the existence of a project.
Project Charter
An approved specific version of the detailed scope statement, WBS, and its associated WBS Dictionary.
Scope Baseline
What the project manager is able to do or accomplish while applying project management knowledge.
Performance
A narrative description of products or services to be delivered by the project.
Project Statement of Work
A specific version of the time-phased budget used to compare actual expenses to planned expenses.
