BONUS!
100
Is cutting a piece of bread a chemical change or physical change?
Physical, because no new matter is created
100
What is the definition of precipitation?
Any type of water falling from the sky.
100
What is magma?
Magma is melted rock, before or within earth's crust.
100
What are the three kinds of plate boundaries?
divergent, transform, convergent.
100
Name three ways to change the rate of an alka seltzer chemical reaction.
Some of the possible ways are to smother the reaction, boil the water, and cool the water
200
Is baking cookies a chemical or physical change?
Chemical, because the mass changes, it expands.
200
What is it called when water from any plant evaporates?
Transpiration
200
How does a sedimentary rock form?
From sediments being compacted from heat and pressure.
200
Who first came up with the plate tectonic theory?
Alfred Wegner first came up with the theory, everyone thought he was crazy!
200
Name four things that can happen at a plate boundary
Four possibilities are volcanoes formed or erupting, earthquakes, mountains formed, trenches created!
300
Name five evidences of a chemical reaction.
Some evidences include temperature change, color change, gas created, new matter created and explosions.
300
What is the process of water turning to water vapor called?
Evaporation.
300
Define igneous rock.
Rock having solidified from lava or magma.
300
What kind of plate boundary is it when two plates are rubbing up against each other?
Transform boundary.
300
How does the water cycle help create a hurricane.
Hurricanes start when warm, moist air from the ocean surface begins to rise rapidly, where it encounters cooler air that causes the warm water vapor to condense and to form storm clouds and drops of rain.
400
What is the law of conservation of mass?
Matter can neither be created or destroyed.
400
What is the process of water vapors collecting to make a cloud called?
Condensation.
400
How is metamorphic rock formed?
By lots of heat and pressure.
400
How is a shield volcano formed?
By two plates going away from each other forming a gap for lava to come through.
400
How Are Cinder Cone Volcanoes Formed?
Cinder cone volcanoes are formed from deposits of ash and cinder released from the volcano during one or several eruptions. Search volcano eruption for video.
500
Out of these 5 changes, which ones are chemical changes? *boiling water *digesting dinner * fireworks exploding *cutting your hair * rusting metal
*digesting dinner * fireworks exploding * rusting metal
500
Draw an accurate diagram of the water cycle.
500
How does a piece of sediment travel through the whole rock cycle?
First the sediment becomes a sedimentary rock because of pressure added by other sediments layering on top of it. Then it becomes an igneous rock by added heat and pressure. Finally as it moves deeper into earth, it becomes exposed to more heat and pressure and it becomes a metamorphic rock.
500
What are the three kinds of volcanoes caused by plate boundaries?
shield, cinder, strato.
500
How many volcanoes are there on the ring of fire?
There are 452 volcanoes on the ring of fire.
