How should you treat others while you are a student at St. John?

Can you use your cell phone at school?

Avoid bringing it to school if possible! Leave in backpack on silent mode. If device is out during school, it will be confiscated to be returned at Mr. Bringold's discretion.

Can I eat a snack during recess?

6th-8th graders: yes, but PLEASE pick up your trash! 

5th grade doesn't need it because we go to recess right after lunch.

What is a pink slip?

  • Pink slips - earned when assignment is not turned in on time. Pink slip and missing assignment(s) must be turned in the following day. Silent lunch until turned in. Accumulating pink slips can lead to further consequences.

What should study hall be like?

A time for studying! You need something to do or read at all times. Snacks are allowed. Each teacher knows what you should be doing.

  • Chromebooks and the online world are a privilege and requires responsibility, respect and control. (Use your chromebook like you don’t want to lose it.)

Friday you can sit with other grades unless otherwise directed.

When do you turn in homework?

Homework hand-in - before 8 AM in each classroom. That means if you're in Ms. Reed's homeroom but have to turn in math, you must visit Mr. Schwark's room before the bell rings.

How should you act in the locker rooms?

Non violently! Give people space to change. Don't be snarky, rude, or weird!

When are you allowed to use your Chromebook?

  • Your CB is closed unless you are told to open or have been given permission. Study hall needs permission.

What is the lunch room like for 5th-8th grades?

Mrs. Piccininni has rules and regulations. Sit where you sat. 8th graders lead us in prayer to end lunch. Each grade has a table day to clean up. Don’t leave before that. Also, Kindergarten eats with us.

What is the dress code like?

  • Shoes - closed toe and heel, tennis shoes, dress shoes, fashion boots. 

  • Pants, shorts, skirts - worn at the waist, can be navy blue, black, or tan. Dress pants, corduroy, and docker style allowed (jeans allowed on Fridays). NO tears or fraying. Belts required. Avoid form fitting styles and be mindful of length (must be 4” or less from knee). Ladies: wear leggings underneath shorter dresses or skirts

  • Shirts - short or long sleeved and tucked in. Must be solid color or striped. Polos, Oxfords, Turtlenecks, Dress Shirts (St. John logo or Christian shirts on Fridays). Be modest with length and style, ladies! 

  • Sweaters/Sweatshirts - Solid color or striped. NO hoods! St. John spirit wear allowed on Fridays.

  • Hair - Boys must maintain hair above eyebrows and not touching collar and will be clean shaven at all times. Ladies will be conservative in color and length. Everyone will avoid extreme hairstyles.

  • Jewelry and makeup - Ladies may wear earrings (avoid dangly). 7th and 8th grade ladies may wear natural makeup in moderation.

Miscellaneous - NO hats, bandanas, visible tattoos, or sunglasses indoors.

What happens if my grades slip?

You may be put on academic probation until your grades come up. You will be notified. Grades come first-then sports, music, drama, etc. (Jesus really comes first and He wants you to try your best in school-for real)!

How do upper grade students impact our lower grade students?

They look up to you! You make them feel important and loved when you care about them.

What kinds of pictures can I have on my Chromebook?

  • Appropriate themes and profile pictures. Do not abuse. It’s not always funny..Do not take pictures of others.

What if I get put at the quiet table?

Stay quiet for that lunch period, or else you may be there again the next day. :(

What's going on with music?

We are working on things. Mr. Machemer will be doing Jubilate two days a week. Mr. Pollatz's band program will be meeting. We are praying for a new music director-please join us! It is important for our school and church.

What happens if my Chromebook is dead?

  • You are responsible for keeping your CB charged and clean.  Take care of it! You get one free charge in 6th-8th.

How would I earn a detention?

Bad choices. Repeated behaviors. Each detention is $5 and an hour after school. This could mean missing a sports practice, game, or other event.

Are there any questions? 

If there are no questions and there is time, talk about something you are excited about for this year. I am excited that the 8th graders are the new leaders of our school. I can't wait to see how they'll handle this position. Let's pray for them especially this year!
