What was the Virginia Plan and why did some delegates object to the Virginia Plan?

It was a plan that proposed to replace the Articles of Confederation with a constitution that would provide for a stronger central government.

Many delegates might have objected that this plan gave the central government too much power at the expense of the states. They might have feared that such a government would become too powerful and too controlling, like the British government had been.
