What is the Dred Scott Case?
A battle in March 1770 where British soldiers fired gunshots at a Boston mob. Very gruesome and bloody. Patriots used this battle to incite and organize colonies
What was the Boston Massacre?
A historical group of people during the late 1700s that famously argued against Parliament's high taxes with the phrase "No taxation without representation"

What is the cotton gin?
Samuel Worcester was living in Cherokee territory without a license. It was argued if Georgia law could be applied to Cherokee territories. (Ruled in Worcester's favor, only federal law could be applied NOT state law)
What is Worcester v. Georgia?
A war that took place during 1756-1763 between the British vs. the French. British colonists wanted to expand westward towards French territory.

The belief that a slave counted as 3/5 of a person in representation in Congress
What is the 3/5 Compromise?
An enslaved man who attempted to sue his owner to become free after being taken to a free state. The Supreme Court ruled in his owner's favor
Who is Dred Scott?
Judicial review. Between James Madison and William Marbury. Marbury got a job approved by Senate, but could not begin until he received his commission from Madison, who did not want to deliver it to him.

Considered to be the "deadliest war"

An announcement from Abraham Lincoln that made all enslaved people in the rebelling states (The Confederate States) now free.

Maryland imposed taxes on the 2nd National Bank, James William McCulloch argued this could not be done and refused to pay. This case ended up with an upheld federal supremacy, expanded federal government and reinforced the Sumpremey Clause + their implied powers

What is Common Sense by Thomas Paine?
The abolitionist who wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin". Her novel was extremely influential and inspired others to fight against slavery.
Who is Harriet Beecher Stowe?
A dispute over steamboat operations in New York and New Jersey waters. Thomas Gibbons Aaron Ogden had a license which gave him an advantage over the water which caused Thomas Gibbons to argue that New York was not allowed to give certain individuals an unfair monopoly.
What is Gibbons v. Ogden?
A gruesome battle between Kansas and Nebraska where bordering Nebraskan residents would rush into Kansas to vote on slave or free state issues. Violence erupted in an anti-slavery town and many were killed.
What was Bleeding Kansas?
A newspaper founded and published to advocate for the abolition of slavery (1831-35)
