Natural freedom is the idea that the individual is bound by no earthly forces and is genuinely free to whatever they please. Social freedom is a collective freedom "from" through the adherence of agreed-upon rules.

Explain the concept behind land being essential to liberty.

Owning your land meant you worked for yourself, and therefore owned your own labor. This gave you autonomy and therefore was essential to freedom. Moreover, at this time access to political affairs was generally restricted for the landed class.

How did the government and household structure of the Chesapeake differ from that of New England?

Government was more hierarchical and limited in the Chesapeake, conducted mostly by the planter class and gentry transplanted from England, whereas in New England it was done on a more communal basis. The Chesapeake family was infrequent, small, and gender roles were loose. In New England, families were quite large and had a rigid hierarchy placing the man  at the head of the household.

Civic nationalism is the idea that anyone can become a citizen if they embrace certain ideals held by that nation, like laws and morals. Ethnic nationalism requires that one must meet certain identity criteria to be a citizen.
