The Doctrine of Discovery was a series of Papal Bulls, or letters, sent to the King and Queen of Spain, as well as the Pope, outlining the mission and purpose of colonizing, which was to convert all to Christianity and use the resources, all by any means necessary.
It was written by only white men who were very powerful at the time, but it stated that all men are created equal. This has many implications for American history, seeing that its history is full of racism.
