The election of 1860 was when Lincoln, a republican who didn't say anything about abolishing slavery, won the presidential election and the democratic party was enraged because they believed that he was going to abolish slavery. As a result, the south no longer felt like they had a voice in politics and 9 states seceded, starting with south carolina, from the union. Lincoln wants to abolish slavery but he doesn’t think he has that power

Hamilton wanted more financial control, with tax control and stricter laws when it came to money, basically, a strong central government.
