What is Roblox's chat system?
1. In-Experience (In-Game) Chat
This is the classic chat box you see while playing a game.
Features:
Public chat (everyone in the server can see it)
Team chat (only teammates see it, if the game supports teams)
Player-to-player messages (depending on experience settings)
Text bubbles above characters (optional, set by the game creator)

Whether chat is enabled at all
Whether bubble chat appears
Who can chat with whom
2. Platform Chat (Outside Games)
This is Roblox’s cross-platform messaging system.
Includes:
Direct messages (DMs) between friends
Group chats
Party chat (for joining games together)
Restrictions:
Only available to users 13+ (based on account age)
Younger users can’t send or receive DMs
3. Safety, Filtering & Moderation (The Big Deal)
Roblox uses an automatic text filtering system to keep chat “appropriate.”
What it does:
Filters profanity, sexual content, personal info, hate speech, etc.
Different filters depending on:
User’s age
Who they’re chatting with
Replaces blocked words with ####
Important detail:
Two people can type the same message and see different results depending on their age settings.
4. Voice Chat (Spatial Voice)
Roblox also has voice chat, which is technically part of the chat system.
How it works:
Optional and opt-in

Spatial audio: voices sound closer or farther away depending on distance in-game
