A hatchery! Though we did not visit one this year, many of you may remember visiting hatcheries in the past where we got to explore the lifecycle of our aquatic neighbors!

How old do you need to be to join 4-H?

Just 5 years old! You all are old enough if you're curious! :)

Are Vets the only ones that work with sick/injured animals on the farm?

No! Farriers, nutritionists, and many other wonderful specialists help keep our companions healthy.

How do you become a veterinarian? 

You have to complete a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) which usually takes around 8 years of schooling after high school!

Rehabilitating sick, injured, or orphaned wild animals.

Is a goldfish in a pond a domesticated animal, or is it something else?

No, they could be considered "tame"! Though goldfish have been raised by humans for many years to be pets for humans, those that have been raised in wild areas are usually dependant on us to keep them happy or healthy! :)

Can farm animals survive without humans?

Maybe? Farm animals, as with many domesticated animals, a reliant on humans for their needs. Though some would find a way, their dependency would make it tricky if we disappeared!

Some vets research animals and their behaviors to better understand them. Does this happen on animals that are well or animals that are sick? 

Both! Vets need information about both well and sick animals, so they can learn how to better take care of them, no matter where they are on their journey!

BONUS: Animals thrive when they have an opportunity to play and use thier senses. We call this ENRICHMENT.

Tame Animals do NOT rely on humans for survival... BUT we may work/live with them and enrich each other's lives.


Bonus: Domesticated animals are creatures that have lived with humans for MANY generations. They rely on us for survival!
