How did the Vikings pickle foods and what foods did they pickle?
Combining the food, with water and the acidic based food, over a heat, then leaving the food in the liquid and it was used mainly for meat.

How did the different classes dress?
The Thralls, who were the lowest social class in Viking Society, wore the plainest clothes. To show their inferiority,  they were forced to cut their hair short, which made them distinguishable from the rest of the society. The Karls, who made up the middle class, wore either dresses with jackets or pants and a shirt. While their clothes were better quality and more colourful than the Thralls’, they weren’t as lavish as the Jarls, who had long, blonde hair and wore armfuls of jewellery to show their wealth.

How did the Jarls dress?
The Karls were wealthy Vikings who wore very detailed and decorated clothing with lots of embroidery, which was also known as table weaving. Their pants were quite baggy, but they went tighter as they came to the ankle. Both the men and women wore jackets made from fur for warmth. The women wore shoes made from goatskin and fur, laced at the ankle with goggles to fasten them.

What materials did they use to make their clothes?
Viking clothes were made from wool, linen and animal skins. The Vikings were good weavers and they had made their own clothes. Children helped the Viking women making the wool into yarn. Men wore tunics and trousers when the women wore a long dress with a pinafore over it. Their clothes were fastened with belts and brooches to keep it neat.

What did Viking women wear? 
The women wore a jacket, dress and shirt underneath the dress. Usually, the dress was held together by brooches, and it was oval shaped. They wore a simple tee shirt made from linen or wool underneath the wooden dress. The shoes were made from calf or goat skin, and in winter time, they were lined with fur for warmth.

They used boats to fight with others if they needed. Vikings also designed boats to suit the needs of different types to trips.

What did adults carve for entertainment?
Parents would carve replicas of weapons such as swords, shields and spears for their children or they would play child versions of adult games. Parents also carved wooden dolls for their children to play with.

What did Viking men wear?
Due to the cold weather of Scandinavia, viking clothes were mostly made of wool. A undershirt was worn underneath a kirtle, a knee length long sleeved shirt which flared at the sleeves. A belt, made of leather was tied around the waist of the viking. The kirtle of wealthier men were often decorated with silk, metal or knotted patterns along the collar and sleeves. Viking men wore long cloth trousers which were mostly tight fitting. Strips made of leather were wounded in a criss-cross pattern up to the knees. Viking traders later came up with new ideas on pants from their travels and started wearing asian style baggy trousers. Cloaks made from rough wool or animal skins were fastened around the neck with long pins made of metal. Wealthier men often had a small ring at the top of the pin. Viking shoes were made from large pieces of leather which was sewn based on the shape of the users foot. The shoes were secured with leather straps, wealthier men wore socks made of wool or linen while the poorer men stuffed their shoes with dried grass or moss.

What were horses used for?
Horses were used for fighting, where two stallions were provoked into fighting. Occasionally mares would be tied up around the field, within the sight and smell of the stallions. The horses would battle until one was killed or ran away.
