One of something, same as single, opposite of plural
What is singular?
A punctuation mark that looks like a comma but placed above and between letters and used to hold a place in contractions and also at the end of possessive nouns
What is an apostrophe?
A mini dictionary that you find in the back of some books that has meanings of words in that book.
What is a glossary?
Two or more words that mean the same
What are synonyms?
Words that mean the opposite.
What are antomyms?
More than one. Opposite of singular, Multiple
What is plural?
Words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings.
What is a homophone?
A word that can stand alone and can have prefixes and suffixes added to it?
What is a root word or base word?
A part of a word that you add to the beginning of a root word.
What is a prefix?

What is subject?
What someone thinks or feels; the opposite of fact.
What is an opinion?
The exact words that a person says. Also used with dialogue.
What is a quotation?
A word that means to finish or fill in.
What is complete?
Words that describe nouns.
What are adjectives?

What are context clues?
The NAME of a person, place, thing or idea.
What is a proper noun?
To place things in the order that they occurred.
What is chronological (or sequential) order?
A word that tells the action or what someone is doing, thinking or feeling.
What is a verb?
A person, place, thing or idea that shows ownership
What is a possessive noun?
Words that tell who or what a sentence is about and take the place of a noun.
What are subject pronouns?
The parts that make up a story. For example characters, setting, plot.
What are story elements?
A list of books at the end of a book or paper used to create that book or paper.
