The age where swimmers are no longer required to take a swim test.
What is 15?
Rotations can occur on either of these time intervals.
What is 15 or 30 minutes?
An 11 year old needs one of these three things to be in the pool.
What is an adult, a lifejacket, or a wristband?
These are staff only walkways at WBAY, members/ guests should not be on them.
What are the divider walls?
This type/number of whistle blast(s) is used to signal an emergency or clear the pool.
What is one long whistle blast?
The length and type(s) of float(s) in a blue wristband/ shallow water test.
What is a 5 second front float and 5 second back float?
At WBAY this lifeguard station initiates a rotation.
What is blue/yellow?
A parent has just asked you if they can leave their child in the pool and go workout, you respond with this question.
What is "how old are they?"
Use of the blocks is only allowed for these activities.
What are swim team and swim lessons? (Active supervision by Y staff or coaching staff with a contract with the Y is required!)
We say this over the walkie talkie to signal an emergency to the rest of the building.

When are shift changes or when one guard's zone is empty?
At MCC this lifeguard initiates the rotation.
What is Lifeguard 2- far end/waterslide?
Children this age or older may be in the facility without an adult.
What is 10 years old?
On deck equipment that is not for open swim (and should not be in the yellow pool) includes these.
What are kickboards, pull buoys, paddles, flippers, and aqua jogger belts?
Where we should direct members in the event of severe weather.
What is the locker rooms?
Someone with a blue wristband may go in water no deeper than this body part.
What is the armpits?
The route taken by MCC lifeguard 2 (far end) during a rotation.
What is down the center aisle, around the submarine & toward the waterslide, then turn around and double back towards chair 1.
Children this age or younger must have a wristband or have a parent in the water, regardless of if they are wearing a lifejacket.
What is 4 years old?
A child with a blue wristband must be this height to use the waterslide.
What is 48 inches?
In case of fire this is the nearest emergency exit to the pool at WBAY; at MCC.
What is the main entrance; the on-deck doors to the parking lot?
The pink wristband/ deep water test consists of these steps.
What is 30 seconds tread, 10 seconds front float, 10 seconds tread, return to the wall, swim 10 yards (approx. to backstroke flags and back)?
The lifeguard to patron ratio for lap/open swim; for programming; for a mix of programming and lap/open swim.
What is 1:25; 1:40; 1:25?
A child this age or younger must have an adult in the pool area, even if they have passed a swim test.
What is 6 years old?
When using the diving board patrons may jump or dive forward, only these people may also do flips and/or twists.
What are trained divers?
In an active shooter situation one should follow the run, hide, fight protocol. This is the best place to hide/barricade ourselves & members in the pool area at WBAY; at MCC.
What is the aquatics staff room; the mechanical room (even better the back room inside the mechanical room!)?
