Air
100

The state of the atmosphere over a short period of time.

weather

Does water or land heat up faster?

land

100

What is the height of an object or point in relation to the starting point of sea or ground level?

Altitude

200

A branch of science that focuses on the atmosphere, weather, and weather forecasting.

Meteorology

200

What covers more than 70% of earth's surface?

Water

200

What is the force of air pressing down on any surface called?

Air pressure

300

The weather conditions of a particular region over a long period of time.

Climate

300

The number of heat units needed to raise the temperature of an object by one degree Celsius.

Heat Capacity

300

What two gases make up 99% of the air?

oxygen and nitrogen

400

An imaginary line around the earth that divides it into northern and southern hemispheres.

Equatior

400

A layer or layers of gas that surround a planet and are held in place by gravity

Atmosphere

400

What is a mass of air with characteristics, such as temperature or moisture, that are different from the air surrounding it.

Air Parcel

In the northern hemisphere we have different seasons, what are they? Tell me when each season starts (such as month) and when that season ends ( month it ends)

Spring (March-May)

Summer (June-August)

Autumn ( September-November)

Winter ( December-February)

When molecules heat up, do the move faster and expand or do they slow down and contract?

Move faster and expand

In the air pressure experiment, explain to me in detail why during experiment 1 the ballon did not inflate. Tell me why in experiment 2 the ballon did inflate. Explain in detail.

In experiment 1, the bottle was full of air and could not hold more air as we tried to inflate the ballon.

In experiment 2, the hole we made in the bottle made a difference, because it allowed air to leave the bottle as we added air into the balloon.
